 DOF PRO vs. Real World DOF

The following images were shot using the Canon EOS D30 and were used as examples on www.dpreview.com. The final image was produced using DOF PRO and a custom depth map which can be viewed here. As you can see the result is virtually identical.

Very cool!
I can't see any difference.

Seems that DOF pro can be very accurate, even it's purpose is to blur everything.

how do we create depth map from real worl photographs???

Hi Ryan;

For real-world photographs, you can use DOF PRO's built-in vertical or radial gradients or you can create your own custom depth map in any paint program by masking objects in shades of grey according to how close they are to the camera.
