hi,
i know this is a huge development work but is
there some ongoing development for DOFPRO
multithreading/multiprocessor/multicore support?

i bough a new dual quad xeon but it only uses 13% processing
power. ok, i can work on new scenes using the rest of the resources
but using all processors and cores would be an absolute superb efficiency.

thanks for any info,
dan

Hi Daniel - not dead, just slow. Wink

Multithreading is still on the wish list. A lot of it has to do with Photoshop as well (if you run some built in PS filters, you'll notice some take advantage of multithreading and some don't).

hi richard,
good to hear from you Smile

i am using corel photopaint as host application, i now see that multithreading has
to be checked with a lot of other host applications also. huge work. i hope you find
a way to get around this issue, maybe through building a stand alone application.

anyway, thumbs up for your development and quality!

Yes, multicore support is needed : DOf pro take longer to calculate dof then 3d apply to render image in radiosity.....

Well, not really. Post DOF will always be quicker than anything done on the fly. Especially if you want quality results. I am though interested in seeing multithreaded support. I have a quad core 6700 cpu and with it only utilising 25% seems very inefficient. Is this going to be addressed in DOFpro 4 ? - Richard...
